MORE than 500 council officers will be working during next month's General Election.

Roles will include covering polling stations across the borough on June 8, as well as the count at Birchwood Leisure Centre.

A total of 503 officers have been designated roles.

They comprise presiding officers, poll clerks, people at the count and workers to open postal votes.

In total, 736 officers applied to work in various roles, so 233 miss out.

A council spokesman said: "We're now fully staffed for the June election.

"Thank you from our elections team to everyone that has offered to help in polling stations."
