A PROGRAMME launched to help people overcome addiction and tackle a range of problems has now been in operation for six months in Culcheth.

Encounter Hope runs on a Tuesday from 7pm until 9.30pm at Culcheth Christian Fellowship on Hob Hey Lane.

One member, who has asked to remain anonymous, has shared his experience about how the programme has made a difference.

He said: “I have been going to Encounter Hope since it started in October 2016.

“I came to the meetings full of shame, guilt and loneliness.

“My life was broken and I had destroyed all of my relationships with others.

"I was so unhappy. I started to share my problems and issues.

“I quickly got myself a sponsor and started on my journey of recovery.”

After attending the programme on a weekly basis, he was able to find the courage to stop drinking and has been clean for five months.

He said: “Once I was drink free I started to deal with my issues and began to mend the relationships I had broken.

“My life has gone from strength to strength.

“I have gone back to work, made good friendships, and I know I have a place I can always turn to when difficulties arise in my life.”

The programme runs throughout the year.

There is time to socialise during the session as well as refreshments at the beginning and end.
