A DETERMINED 35-year-old woman who hit 'rock bottom' before completing a body transformation has launched a weight loss group in Appleton.

Jen Hamblett, from Latchford, weighed in at 16 stone in 2009 and was left with 'no confidence' to do the things she loved.

But it proved to be a turning point in her life as she went onto lose four stone in 12 months.

Jen, who is now a Slimming World consultant, said: "I was so unhappy with myself but I knew that those crazy fad diets, pills and potions weren't going to be the solution, so I joined a Slimming World group.

"With the support of the group – and a new found love of cooking – I discovered a new shopping, cooking and eating lifestyle that fitted me and my full-time working life perfectly."

But it was not until last December that she faced her biggest challenge to date after signing up to an Ultra White Collar Boxing event, which was held at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

She stepped into the ring after losing a further one and a half stone to raise money for Cancer Research UK – it followed a rigorous eight-week training regime.

She fought for three rounds and raised £600 for the charity.

"I would never have done this without my weight loss journey and all the support from my Slimming World family," she said.

Since Jen decided to become a consultant seven years ago her group, which is based in Latchford, has lost 66 stone in total.

Last Thursday, March 9, she opened her second group at Bridgewater High School's upper site in Appleton, on Broomfields Road.

She added: "I want to help as many people as I can to achieve the things they never thought possible too."
