A DISCARDED cigarette is believed to be the cause of a fire which started outside a building on Westy Lane last night, Wednesday.

Firefighters from Stockton Heath and Warrington fire stations were called to the scene at around 9.25pm where they discovered a bin in flames under a canopy.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a cigarette.

Crews extinguished the fire and used a thermal imaging camera to check the heat had not spread into the building.

Luckily nobody was reported to be hurt during the incident.
