THE adult unit and the cadets of St John Ambulance based in Warrington have been presented with the Leverhulme Trophy and Cotter Shield for their achievement as winners of the annual competition to find the best units in Cheshire.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire David Briggs presented adult unit manager Alison Williams and cadet leader Kerrie Gleave with the trophies at a carol service in Chester.
The adult award is based on the work by the volunteers in learning first aid and other work at the Hoyle Street headquarters and providing first aid cover at many events in Warrington including regular appearances at Warrington Wolves games.
Mr Briggs, who has been a volunteer for St John Ambulance for many years, was also presented with his belated 12-year service medal and four bars each representing five years of extra service.
