A DECISION date over blueprints for a Walton travellers site is yet to be finalised – six months after fresh plans were submitted.

In June, a new bid for the permanent use of Two Acre Park, on Warrington Road, as a residential caravan site for 20 families accommodating 30 caravans, was registered.

The site has a lengthy history of temporary consents for accommodation for the travellers, who came onto the land almost 20 years ago.

The plans have been met with more than 25 objections, with the authority currently looking into the application.

A council spokesman said: "We are assessing evidence relating to the health and educational needs of the occupiers of the Walton site.

"This is taking longer than expected, due to the time it takes the applicant's agent to get back to us. No decision date has been finalised."
