POLICE had a busy night last night, Friday, after arresting five people for separate incidents in the town.
At around 11.15pm a man was taken into custody for allegedly assaulting a woman in the town centre.
Later, police were called to two cases of people allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol or cannabis.
Both suspects were arrested.
At around 2.45am a man was taken into custody for allegedly threatening door staff at a bar before turning his anger towards police officers.
He was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
At around 4.30am police were called to a town centre bar where an assault had allegedly taken place.
The suspect fled the scene and a police officer chased him down from the bottom of Bridge Street to Marshall Gardens near Bridge Foot, where the man was arrested.
