A NEW £7,000 education hub at has been unveiled at Fearnhead Cross Community Centre thanks to a lottery grant.
The community centre’s new digital hub was opened by Warrington Borough Council chief executive Steven Broomhead on Monday after more than £7,000 was secured from lottery funding in order to purchase new laptops and IT equipment.
A larger training and learning area is planned as part of a mooted refurbishment of the centre, with an aim to house drop-in IT sessions and provide college courses.
Housing associations will be encouraged to put on sessions for tenants to show them how to use their online systems while a job club is also up and running at the centre.
Cllr Diana Bennett said: “I look forward to working more closely with both tenants and housing providers.
“Online systems can provide a valuable paper trail when reporting issues – local councillors are in a unique position as channels of communication.”
