THE fight against drugs by police continues with three men involved in the supply of class A drugs in Warrington jailed in recent weeks.

Sgt Paul Flynn has vowed to continue the crackdown on those who are attempting to floods the streets of Warrington with the illegal narcotics.

He welcomed the recent sentencings of three men who were under investigation by police.

Jamie Carlin and Michael Hodgson, both of Bridgewater Avenue, Latchford, were sentenced to three years in prison.

Carlin, 21, and Hodgson, 24, were arrested after police tracked the two men travelling in a car from Manchester Road to Ash Grove in Latchford at around 3pm on March 14.

A search of the vehicle was carried out and more than £2,000 in cash was uncovered.

A mobile phone was also seized and an examination of the phone linked the two men to drug dealing in the town.

Both men were detained and later pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and were sentenced at Chester Crown Court on April 14.

Drug dealer Macauley Ireland was sentenced to three years in prison at Chester Crown Court on Monday after being convicted of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

The 19-year-old, of Caesars Close, Runcorn, was arrested by police following a raid at a property on Winwick Road on March 4.

A total of £816 worth of cash was seized as well as £850 worth of crack cocaine and heroin.

Sgt Flynn said: "Those who push drugs in the town will be identified, targeted and brought to justice.

"This is a matter we take seriously at Cheshire Police and we rely on the public to supply information to help catch the perpetrators who are a blight on the communities where we live.

"Drugs supply and the potential consequences are far-reaching and devastating and this is an issue that we are determined to combat."
