How wrong could i have been?

After the win against Salford and Barrow i was sure that would kick start our season off and we would go on a great winning run. It just goes to show that you can't predict anything in Super league this season. We came up against a very strong and determine Harlequins side and we found it very difficult to brake there line and get over the try line, and even when we did get through there line we failed to convert that into points. Our game plan was to complete our sets of six, something we haven't done to well this season, and to grin them out, we took that game plan to literally and we seemed to play to much one out rugby.

I really don't think we lost that game through lack of effort and determination, we just needed to change a few things in the game plan. Maybe we should of looked to exploit them more out wide? but we never because we felt they were weaker down the middle of the field, but credit to them they stood tall and did a job on us. Without trying to make excuses, Harlequins are a decent team that are coached and drilled really well, on paper we should of won that game, but games aren't won on paper, they are won on the field and we came up short.

This week against St Helens we have to have a totally different approach to the game, we will have to play expansive rugby to beat these guys because we need to get as many points on the board as we can, if we go into this game thinking we will win by just defending well we will come unstuck! Saints can score points from anywhere on the field so we know we have to stop them getting on a roll and slow them down at the play the ball. I think this is the sort of challenge we need at the moment and i feel we will step it up a gear because there is a fear of failure going through us at the moment.

On a more positive I got my first game under my belt after 6 weeks out with knee medial ligament damage, i came through the game ok but i forgot how physical and demanding the game is, I was really sore on Sunday so I will be glad to get a few more games under my belt to get back to the norm.

Vinnie Anderson should be ok for the game against Saints after he had a slight tweak in his hamstring, he'll be hoping to prove a point against his former employee's. I hope that the fans are keeping the faith with the team and keep cheering us on, your support is much appreciated.

We are only 1 win from being in the top 4 and hopefully we'll get that long awaited win this week again St Helens.

Speak soon Woody.
