A HUSBAND accused of murdering his wife is set to stand trial next month.

Andrew Munro is charged with killing mum-of-three Clare Munro, aged 47, at their home on Chiltern Road in Culcheth.

The 51-year-old denies her murder and a second count of attempted murder of another person with a trial set to begin on June 2.

Anya Norwood, prosecuting at Liverpool Crown court, said it was estimated to last two weeks.

Munro, who was wearing an open white shirt, appeared via video link from HMP Altcourse.

He spoke only to confirm his personal details and ask whether he could be heard clearly.

Mrs Munro, a child-minder and dog walker, was found with 'serious injuries' on November 2 last year.

Neighbours paid tribute to the 'pillar of the community' and 'ray of sunshine' following her death.

They said she 'always had a smile on her face and organised a street party for the Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

Judge Clement Goldstone, QC, the Recorder of Liverpool, remanded Munro in custody.
