THEY may have got off to a bumpy start but diamond wedding couple Syd and Kath Bradshaw have been inseparable ever since.

The Orford pair celebrate 60 years of marriage today, Thursday, by renewing their vows at St Benedict's Church before celebrating with a family meal.

The happy couple have known each other for 66 years after a friend of Kath's set them up on a blind date.

Syd did not turn up but then visited her the next day and confessed that he had no money until the week after to take her out.

Fortunately for Kath, aged 81, and Syd, aged 83, it was true that good things come to those who wait and they never left each others' sides after their first date.

They married at St Benedict's Church, which they still regularly attend, in the snow when Kath was aged 21 and Syd, aged 23.

The former milkman and bread lad and office girl for Lancashire Steel will be re-living their special day with their four children, three grandchildren and one great grandchild with another one on the way.

Sharing the secret to their successful marriage, Kath added: "It's all about give and take and working together."

While Syd replied: "Don't answer back."
