OFFICIALS at British Transport Police have confirmed a man has died after he was hit by a train at Padgate Station.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 12.25pm and all lines between Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street were closed.
All lines reopened at 3pm but passengers may still face delays.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Our officers were called to Padgate Station, Warrington, at around 12.24pm on Wednesday, 11 February after reports of someone being struck by a train.
"Colleagues from North West Ambulance Service also attended, but a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are currently working to identify the person and inform their family.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Disruption is expected to continue until around 5.30pm.
Passengers are advised to use services via Newton-le-Willows and Warrington Bank Quay.
