MEMBERS of Stockton Heath’s Weight Watchers group put a smile on children’s faces after donating 80 advent calendars to the Warrington Foodbank.
Leader of the group at the Methodist Church Hall Lynne McIver, aged 64, suggested the idea to the club, who were happy to put their hand in their pockets for the worthy cause.
“I just thought about all the amounts of chocolate you end up with this time of year, and then about the kids who wouldn’t have much," she said.
“I thought it would be a nice idea for us to do something."
Kind-hearted members gave their donations to the vicar of the Methodist Church, who took them to the children.
They were given in time for December 1 so the youngsters could open the calendars’ first door.
The group will also be donating their unopened chocolate from Christmas to the Salvation Army in the New Year.
