WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones has said she is 'astonished' the Prime Minister failed to address a fall in GP numbers in the town.
The MP challenged the government during Prime Minister's questions after uncovering Warrington had 127 full-time equivalent GPs in 2010 but at the last count only had 97.
But Ms Jones said the reply referred to GPs across the country and waiting times for operations but failed to address the fall in GP numbers in Warrington.
She added: “I am astonished that the Prime minister did not even try to answer my question about why there are fewer GPs in Warrington now.
“The numbers have fallen year on year under this government and it is an issue that has been raised again and again when I’m out knocking doors.
"This problem is not going to go away even if the Prime minister fails to address it."
