A FLOODED footpath has been described as a potential death trap for schoolchildren in Old Hall.
Derek Warren, from Shackleton Close, says he is fed up of trying to get the footpath repaired by the council.
Since the resident reported the problem off Cromwell Avenue by Twenty Acre Wood and Old Hall Primary School last year, the pool has grown to 60ft long by 12ft wide - about nine inches deep in the centre.
Blocking the route for pedestrians and wheelchair users, the qualified health and safety professional fears that it seriously jeopardises the safety of young children.' Mr Warren said: "Council workmen visited the site and wanted to put an electric pump in the hole that they had built but it would be very expensive and they knew it would not get approved so they left it.
"I suggested that they raise the tarmac on the footpath by six inches, thus eliminating the dip but they said that was not acceptable.
"Why I don't know, as it is the most simple thing to do and will cost about £500."
The frustrated resident contacted Old Hall councillors Keith Gleave and Judith Wheeler in April last year, when Warrington Borough Council attempted to solve the problem by installing a soak-away' gully.
Following a series of emails and letters to the duo, Clr Wheeler said that despite her efforts to get the problem solved there is only one contracted drainage team in Warrington and the council's Highways Department could not fix a date to tackle the issue.
Warrington Borough Council was unable to comment on the matter before the Warrington Guardian went to press.
