PARENTS should be made to face the consequences of youth crime.
That is the view of Great Sankey North councillor Trudi Wood - and she has come up with two innovative suggestions to achieve it.
The first is to make the parents of misbehaving youths go to their community action meeting, where the public tells the police its concerns, so the parents can hear about the trouble caused.
The second is having police go along to parents' evenings to allow officers a captive audience.
Clr Wood said: "I think the parents need educating about what their children get up to."
Police have made progress on tackling nuisance youths in Great Sankey, says Clr Wood She spoke after residents at the Sankey North Community Action Meeting put the problem at only number three in their list of priorities, behind speeding and parking.
The subject of nuisance youths is normally number one at CAM meetings, and had been number one at the previous Sankey North CAM.
Clr Wood, for Great Sankey North, said: "This must have taken a lot of work from the police.
"That is a big success that they have achieved."
