Charity needs your help to get adapted cycle scheme off the ground with cash win
A WALTON charity is urging people to go online to help it win £25,000 in funding for a new project.
The Walton Lea Partnership needs people to vote for it to recieve the cash from Engage Mutual Assurance for a new project which will offer disabled people the chance to get on their bikes.
Kate Finch, commercial manager, said: “One of our regular users who comes to Walton Lea has a form of autism and had stability issues which meant he couldn’t ride a bike properly.
“One of our volunteers said he needs stabilizers put on to help him so that’s what started everything off.
“We already do the bike recycling scheme and when we found this pot of funding through Engage we put ourselves forward and came up with the idea of doing what we did for this one person on a larger scale.
“We could make reclaimed bicycles for people with disabilities then we would sell them at an affordable price which would help make money for the charity.
“It means the people who use our project are helping other people with disabilities too.”
The base, off Chester Road, would use the funding to help buy new equipment to help them adapt bicycles for those with a range of needs.
And the public has until May 31 to add their support to the campaign.
