CELEBRATIONS were in full swing on Thursday to mark the birthday of great-grandma Ellen Robinson, who has reached the remarkable age of 102.
The birthday girl was joined by her son Thomas Robinson and other residents at St Oswald's Nursing Home in Winwick to celebrate the birthday milestone.
Still in good health and good spirits, Ellen was all smiles on March 27 as she enjoyed the birthday festivities organised by the care home.
Her son Thomas, who moved to Oxford 33 years ago, said: “We always knew that she would reach 100 but the home have looked after her so well since she moved here over a year ago.
“It because of them that she is doing so well and I have every confidence in the staff.”
Ellen, who was married to Tom Robinson, has one son, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
“She is a great person,” said Thomas. “After her mum died she looked after her three brothers and her father when she was about 16 years old. She was such a caring person.”
The great-grandmother, who was born and bred in Warrington, lived most of her life in Orford before moving to the home after her 100th birthday.
When he was younger, Thomas remembers his mum as a hard worker who always kept herself busy, which included working at the shirt works and former pub the Horse and Jockey on Winwick Road.
