BANKSY beware for there is a Warrington artist taking up the public art mantle.

The mysterious Urban Artist is bringing art to the masses with drop offs across the borough and wider area all in the name of art.

The artist came forward after an appeal in last week’s Warrington Guardian to find the creator of a number of canvas’ across Stockton Heath.

But they are remaining tight-lipped about their true identity only saying they have lived in the borough all their life.

The urban Artist said: “I prefer this method of giving my art away, I also give it to many charity shops around the north west area.

“I have my own style of urban art with stencils that I also give away by leaving it around streets, shopping centres and the like. This is called an "art dump" and another will happen again in the very near future, this could be within the coming weeks before Christmas.”

The art which has been hitting the streets of Warrington all comes from canvas work featuring a variety of prints.

The most recent drop included certificates of ‘not real’ inside each canvas, with a Banksy stamp on the side of the canvas, in homage to the world famous guerrilla artist.

“I have been doing urban art for a last 12 years,” they added. “The same day Banksy put a copy in a thrift shop in LA I put some work in a Birchwood charity shop.”

And the people of Birchwood should keep an eye out as a potential future spot for the next ‘art dump’ where you could get your hands on an original not real Banksy.
