Community showcase event is now in its third year
B FESTIVAL volunteers ‘showcase the very best in our young people,’ claims Warrington North MP Helen Jones.
The annual festival in Burtonwood is the brainchild of teenager Jade Mitchell and her friends and family.
The event was created as a way to bring the community together while raising money for mental health charity MIND.
Mrs Jones said: “Jade, her family and friends have put in a great deal of work to make the festival a success.
“This is a great way of bringing people together and, in particular, is a great way to showcase bands and other performers.”
Mrs Jones, who has attended the event for the past two years, was quick to dismiss the negative stereotypes surrounding the youth of today.
She said: “Youngsters often receive bad press because of the activities of a small minority but the tremendous efforts put into the B Festival by Jade and her friends showcases the very best in our young people.”
This will be the third festival organised by the 17-year-old with last year’s event raising £400 for the charity.
B Festival 2013 is held at Burtonwood Community Centre on August 31 and is open to people of all ages.
The festival features live music from local talent, non-stop entertainment and food, drink and craft stalls.
