YOU could be slapped with a fine of up to £50,000 for littering the streets.
The council’s enforcement team is cracking down on litter louts and dog walkers who do not clean up after their pet.
The tough stance will see polluters pay a fine of £50 for dropping a cigarette butt up to a £50,000 fine for fly-tipping.
Clr David Keane, executive board member for
environment and public protection, said: “It simply isn’t fair that Warrington’s council taxpayers should be forking out large sums of money every year because a minority of the population drop litter and allow their dogs to foul the pavements.
“It’s time for those people who mess up our streets to have a re-think, and accept that we all share the responsibility for keeping Warrington clean.”
