Pupils to star in cinema advert raising awareness
BUDDING actors and actresses from St Gregory’s High School in Westbrook are set to star in a cinema advert to raise awareness of mental health issues.
The advertisement promotes a new website,Who Am I?, which offers an online community for young people struggling with personal problems such as depression, eating disorders and self harm.
The website invites them to record and upload a video where they hold up a series of handwritten cards that explain their personal journey.
The videos include links to support resources, which have been approved by the 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
The trust invited pupils from St Gregory’s to help make up the audience for the advert.
Joanne Waldron, e-communications officer at the trust, said: “A number of young people in the group bravely recorded their own video which we hope will inspire others to do the same, emphasising our key message that ‘you are not alone’.”
The advert will be screened at cinemas across Warrington, Halton, St Helens and Wigan during the half-term holidays with is first showing due to take place on Friday at the Odeon Cinema in Westbrook.
