Successful applicant will organise council’s business and keep financial records

THE first task for the new chairman of Lymm Parish Council is to recruit a new clerk.

Longstanding parish councillor and former leader of Warrington Borough Council Ian Marks took over the reins from Clr Peter Powell on Tuesday at the annual council meeting. He previously served as chairman more than 20 years ago.

Clr Marks said: “Sadly our existing clerk, Geraldine Reynolds, has had to resign for health reasons so we are having to look for a new part-time clerk. “The clerk is responsible for the administration of all aspects of the council’s business and for keeping financial records and preparing accounts. “The post-holder is also responsible for managing four part-time employees.

“The position requires a high degree of numeracy and literacy skills and the successful applicant would be expected to work towards obtaining a formal clerk’s qualification. “He or she must be prepared to work some evenings when meetings are being held and to be flexible and committed to the council.”

“Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work on your own are required. “The successful applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively with the public both orally and in writing and have good IT skills.”

For more information contact the present clerk, Geraldine Reynolds, on 756434 or at clerk@lymmparishcouncil.gov.uk The closing date for applications is June 7. CVs can be sent to the above email address or to the Clerk at 18 Brooklyn Drive, Lymm, Cheshire, WA13 9DN.
