STAFF at Daniel Contractors are already being shown the door after the company went into administration.
Sources at the Appleton Thorn company say employees are being made redundant including office staff and engineers.
It is not yet clear how many jobs have been lost so far.
One employee, who did not wish to be named, said: "I work as an engineer for Daniel.
"They told us all this morning to leave with no wages, supposed to be paid tomorrow.
"They have let us work all week with no intention of paying us and have told us all to go away and get our money off the Government.
I've never heard anything so heartless and out of order, it's a shocking lack of respect."
At a meeting with United Utilities and administrators, workers were told there is a month-long window for contracts to be transferred to other companies.
If that is unsuccessful, officials said a ‘worst case scenario’ may follow, with all 1,300 staff made redundant.
The source also said that customers have yet to be given any information by bosses at Daniel.
As revealed on the Warrington Guardian website, the construction company went into administration on Wednesday as debts mounted up.
It has struggled to pay bills, meaning seven court cases have been filed against it.
