IF you go down to Causeway Park on Saturday you are sure of a big surprise for you will find teddies tucking into picnics with their owners as part of a community fun day.

The day will start by looking after the surrounding environment with a litter pick at Causeway Park, off Gainsborough Road at 10am.

Latchford West Community Planning Group has organised the event with the hope of bringing families together for an afternoon.

Chairman, Clr Maureen McLaughlin (LAB – Latchford West), said: “After our very successful day last year we felt it would be fun to have a picnic in the park with an emphasis on looking after the local environment.”

Volunteers will receive a voucher to buy a hotdog in the afternoon.

Clr McLaughlin added: “If you’re not able to help with the clean-up you will still be welcome to enjoy the picnic and entertainment in the afternoon.”

Entertainment in the afternoon will be provided by the sea cadets demonstrating their field gun display, and music by SOULvation – who perform a mix of styles including motown.

Phil Chadwick, from Warrington Borough Council’s environment team, and staff and pupils from Priestley College will be providing fun activities including face painting.

With free entry, the picnic will run from 12.30pm to 3pm with hotdogs and cakes on sale. Seating will be provided but blankets and rugs will be welcomed.

Young and old are encouraged to bring their teddy bears dressed up for the occasion as prizes will be awarded for the most popular teddies.
