COUNCIL bosses say they want to hear from residents before weekly black bin collections are ditched.
A consultation on the controversial decision to start alternative weekly collections, which will see blue bins collected one week and black bins the next, will run until Friday, February 1.
The council’s executive board made the decision to opt for the new collection schedule to save £1million a year in December and the change will come into affect from April.
The council says the feedback will help plan how the changes will take place and give the council an idea of how to help residents recycle and reduce waste.
Clr David Keane (LAB - Penketh and Cuerdley), executive board member for environment and public protection, said: “We’re making the move so we can make the recycling rate even better in the town and there’s no doubt it will have positive benefits on the environment but we understand residents will have concerns going forward.
“We want to urge people to share their views with us and complete the questionnaire so we can get an understanding of how we can support you through the changes.”
The questionnaire can be completed at warrington.gov.uk by clicking on the ‘Consultations’ page.
The consultation document is available to read online and hard copies can be found in libraries and the council’s contact centres.
