THIS month’s meeting took place on October 6 and proved to be a very enjoyable and interesting evening with a different twist to the usual demonstrations.

The designs produced were all fantastic and each creation was accompanied by a snippet from the life of a woman who contributed greatly to the popularity of flower arranging and the beginnings of NAFAS.

Our demonstrator was Glenda Bream who lives in Sheffield. The title of her demonstration, Inspired by Constance, was mystifying at first, but all was revealed as Glenda created each of her designs.

Constance Spry came from humble beginnings in Derby.

Her father had a great influence on her life and he encouraged her and developed her love of nature, flowers in particular.

She grew up to become a renowned and highly-acclaimed flower arranger, designer and business women. Her talents were recognised and admired by the rich and famous alike.

Each of the six designs, a mixture of traditional and modern, were based on the experiences of Constance’s intriguing life.

Glenda produced some fantastic creations. We all agreed that this had truly been a lovely evening full of interesting historical information.

Our next meeting is on November 3 at Appleton Parish Hall 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. All are welcome.
