GRAMMY-winning hit maker Nile Rodgers will be taking over Castlefield Bowl for Manchester’s popular Sounds of the City series.
The composer, producer, arranger, guitarist and music legend will be joined by Chic on June 27.
With genre-crossing hits like Le Freak and Good Times, Rodgers’ body of work has garnered him inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
His work as a producer for artists like David Bowie, Diana Ross and Madonna have also led to more than 300 million album and 50 million single sales.
This newly announced outdoor show will see the Rodgers and Chic joined by Crazy P and Greg Wilson.
In addition to Rodgers’ reputation as a hitmaker, he is also the founder and chairman of the We Are Family Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes cultural diversity and helps creative young people get a foot on the ladder.
Previously announced headline gigs for Sounds of the City include Shed Seven, Haçienda Classiçal, The Levellers, Rag’n’bone Man and Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott.
