CLINT Boon would be given a knighthood if Reverend and the Makers got their way.
The band's frontman Jon McClure said the Inspiral Carpets keyboardist and Radio X DJ has helped him during some tough moments in his life.
Manchester music icon Clint is performing a DJ set on the night of Reverend and the Makers' gig at the Old Fish Market on May 29.
"Clint Boon I adore. I think he’s a wonderful man," said Jon.
"Not only is he a great musician and a great DJ but a lovely man. There are a couple of moments in my life where Clint was there for me.
"He’s the sort of man I’d been knighting if I was king. A lot of people are in this game for fame and riches but he’s a pure music man.
"It’s going to be a good night because I’ve been at loads of dos when Clint is DJing and it’s always a cracking party."
Jon also said he is looking forward to meeting the Lightning Seeds' Ian Broudie – an artist and producer who inspired him to get into music.
He added: "I used to like Lightning Seeds in the 90s when I was a teenager and he’s also produced a bunch of records that I’ve enjoyed.
"I think he’s a bit of a dude. I’ve got a lot of time for him. He’s a great writer and great producer.
"I’ve been lucky enough to get to know and play with a lot of people whose music I’ve enjoyed.
"With music, when you’ve seen behind the wizard’s sleeve and know the magic behind it, you’re never as star struck with people but at the same time I have a lot of respect for them.
"It’s always good to listen to people who have been there and done it. I suppose I’m getting towards being a veteran myself. I’ve been going 11 years with this band "You see these people who think they know everything but you can always learn."
