Kagoule
For fans of: Smashing Pumpkins, Dinosaur Pile-Up, California X
EXPECT a long answer if you ask Nottingham alt-rockers Kagoule where they get their ideas from.
The trio's debut album Urth, which was recorded while they were still in their teens, draws on a wealth of
unexpected influences.
US underground obscurities of the 80s and 90s, the Generation X vibe of Smashing Pumpkins and the style of Bert Jansch have all been cited.
Some of their ideas have also come from Bikini Kill, the angular rhythms of Fugazi and the effects pedal antics of Dinosaur Jr.
Add in to the mix contemporary fantasy and sci-fi literature influences and even a love of medieval wood-cut artwork and you have Kagoule.
- Kagoule play at the Soup Kitchen in Manchester on November 20
