THE name Winter Wonderland implies a bit of Christmas magic.

But the only place this event spirits you away to is the fairground.

Now in its second year, the attraction, run by former Bridgewater High School pupil Tammy Silcock, is effectively a fun fair in a warehouse at Trafford Centre's Event City.

The noise from each ride merges into the next which feels more headache inducing than festive.

And the only indication that it is a Christmas park comes from the likes of Santa's grotto, festive food, photo opportunities in a 'snow globe' and Mariah Carey blasted out of speakers, adding to the chaotic, all-consuming noise.

On the plus side, Winter Wonderland is packed with things to do including the circus and Sooty Show and it is probably best enjoyed by youngsters aged five and up.

But will it leave you dreaming of a white Christmas? Not in the slightest.

- Winter Wonderland is at Event City until January 4
