WORK on one of Warrington town centre's biggest ongoing construction projects is progressing well.
The Warrington Youth Zone is currently being built on land off Dallam Lane, near to the Base and UTC Warrington.
And, as these latest images show, the £6.9million project is now well underway.
Construction work started late last year, and is due for completion in early 2022.
The youth zone is being developed in the town's Stadium Quarter, only a stone's throw away from Warrington Bus Interchange and Central Station, by national charity OnSide in partnership with Warrington Borough Council and private sector groups.
For an entry fee of 50p for the evening, members aged seven to 19 – and up to 25 for disabled users - will be able to access more than 20 activities, including an indoor climbing wall, a sports hall, a music room with a recording studio, a fully equipped gym, a 3G pitch, a dance and drama studio, arts and crafts, a training kitchen and an enterprise and employability suite.
Sessions will be delivered by trained youth workers, supported by a team of volunteers.
The youth zone is one of the borough's most anticipated projects, with long held plans having previously included a proposal to occupy the former Mr Smith's building before it was destroyed by fire.
