SUNDAY’S game between Warrington Wolves and Widnes Vikings was the second in a series of events being lined up by Ryan Atkins for his Testimonial season.

A launch dinner that sold out in two weeks kicked off what will be 12 months celebrating the career of the highest scoring centre in the club’s history.

The familiar golf day, ladies day, summer ball with a twist, finale dinner and Q&A sessions at the town’s community clubs are being lined up, along with several novel events.

“Support’s been amazing so far,” said Atkins.

“From companies sponsoring me to people buying the replica shirts and naked calendars that went down really well, it’s amazing to see and to realise I can’t be that bad of a person or player for people to want to support me in their hundreds and then thousands at the Testimonial game.

“All the events will be accessible to everybody, but if some people can’t attend some events then they won’t feel as though they’ve missed out and there’ll be something else later in the year when they can attend.

“My events will be about my character, they’ll pretty much be about fun. I want people to enjoy all the events they attend.

“It’s about having a laugh myself and it’s about mingling with fans and thanking them for their support over the 10 seasons."
