AN Appleton dad is set to run a half marathon with popstar Olly Murs.
Neil Sherlock is set to take part in the Great North Run this weekend to raise funds for Brainwave, with the charity having supported his four-year-old daughter Elsa.
The youngster was diagnosed with cerebral palsy last year, and attends the Brainwave North West Centre.
Friends Graham Eardley and Tom Handford will join Neil during the run on Sunday, September 9 – as will X Factor star Olly Murs, who is a patron of the charity.
Neil, from Appleton, said: “My daughter Elsa was diagnosed with cerebral palsy last year, which in her case has mainly affected the use of her legs.
“She was only able to walk unaided at the age of three and Brainwave have been helping her since then with physiotherapy exercises to improve her balance, strength and coordination.
“She is slowly but surely learning to run, climb and walk long distances.
“Elsa has made fantastic progress over the last year or so, and the Brainwave programme has a lot to do with this.”
