APPLETON Tigers secured two trophies in one day as they rubber-stamped their claim to be Cheshire’s best women’s T20 side.
A double victory over Stockport Trinity Fire meant they returned to Lyons Lane with both the T20 Cup and the T20 Knockout Cup.
In the first game, Sami Fowler and Liv Horsfield ripped through the Stockport top order before three wickets for Nat Long and run-outs by Jess Lewis, Holly McCurrie and Annie Rashid bundled them out for just 49.
A nightmare start saw the Tigers slump to 12-5 in reply, but Horsfield and Eloise Jackson held their nerve to seal the victory.
Trinity’s batters came back fighting and reached 90-9 in the first innings of the second game, despite an incredible treble wicket maiden from Kathryn Jackson.
McCurrie and Emma Barlow scored quickly to set a platform before big hitting from Charlotte Cross and Georgia Heath saw them home.
In their latest league game, however, the Tigers could not reach the massive target set for them by Didsbury.
Cross struck with the first ball of the match, but Didsbury still managed to set Appleton a massive target of 200 for victory.
Barlow and Cross got them off to a good start in reply, with Fowler and Abbey Gore keeping them in the hunt but they fell behind the rate and finish on 182.
