I HAVE just returned from Locking Stumps Primary School’s harvest assembly at Thomas Risley Church.

At the end of the assembly we had to say goodbye to Theresa, our lollipop lady of 11 years. On behalf of all residents in Locking Stumps we are appalled that the council has taken away our lollipop lady.

Theresa is a friend to all. She has got our children safely to school for all these years and been a shoulder to cry on to any child who is upset. She is our friend. This is not just a job to her. In this very emotional goodbye her last words were to make sure the children knew how to cross the road safely, as this is her main priority.

After half term our children are left to cross the road on their own. God forbid if there is an accident.

Bring back our lollipop lady, bring back Theresa.
