THE on-again, off-again apartments proposal for the former art school in Museum Street is surely nothing short of a tragic farce.

As the October 19 Warrington Guardian article detailed, 42 apartments are now planned on this historic site.

The former Warrington College of Art and Design is equally worthy of sympathetic restoration as its adjoining museum and art gallery, and as a ‘centre of excellence’, had no equal in the north of England.

The so-called Cultural Quarter needs to live up to its reputation and ensure that this structure once more becomes the Warrington College of Art and Design.
