I WAS interested in the recent Fly in the Ointment column where the author said they were ‘somewhat uncomfortable’ with the Redwood Bank investment.
I think the phrase he was looking for should have been appalled or disgusted.
The auditors are still examining this investment and the audit committee of the council has been told this could have been done for millions of pounds less.
Now there is extra scrutiny over plans to buy a solar farm.
I see the logic in buying land or businesses in Warrington, for the improvement in Warrington and for benefitting council taxpayers.
Risky moves like investing in banks seems rather less sensible and not the sort of things councils should be doing.
