AS a former employee of the borough treasurer's office (1959 to 1967) now residing in Brisbane, I have been following with great interest the never ending turmoil which seems to be permanently attached to the current council.

To have a situation where annual accounts have not been signed off for more than four years represents, in my opinion, a serious dereliction of duty.

This situation obviously revolves around some of the dubious investments made by the council with a view to generating income.

The treasurers during my time at Bank House would never have allowed such a scenario to be realised and action would have been taken to implement remedial action as a matter of priority.

For the sake of all ratepayers in Warrington, hopefully these problems can be rectified without any further delay and my hometown can continue to prosper.
