WARRINGTON Borough Council chief executive Steven Broomhead in his View From the Top column speaks of our sense of pride.

When I pass Oliver Cromwell’s statue and look at the slum which used to be the Packet House and then walk to the new Warrington Market, it really is difficult to see what is being referred to in the word pride.

When this is compared to other town celebrations of their own heritage, this could be described as hypocrisy.

If we take into account the wanton demolition of Garnett Cabinet Works, due to a lack of maintenance and the demolition of other historic Warrington buildings, this pride could be described as shameful.

In reference to the very complex NHS system, does this amount to years of under investment and lack of rewards for hard working staff who have worked non-stop for the past twenty months.
