I WAS most alarmed to read that a borough councillor had stated it was difficult to predict the longer term impact of the coronavirus pandemic (Warrington Guardian, April 8).

The library, particularly in Lymm, is not only cherished by the community, but is well used and has been a lifeline for some residents.

There have been well documented reports and articles about the fight to save the library. I hope this has not been in vain.

When the library was last open, I was a regular user and can testify to the very high standards of hygiene put in place.

I felt very safe when I was visiting.

I would request the library releases a statement going through the procedures and other assurances that residents will be safe.

Plus a statement assuring residents of plans to keep all libraries open for the foreseeable future.
