I’VE read that a builder has applied to build houses on top of the railway viaduct in Latchford (Warrington Guardian, page 27 and online).

Why would the council allow this when it connects to a valuable high level bridge over the ship canal?

The Government has a scheme at the moment to open disused railway lines.

Why doesn’t the council apply for this scheme to connect Warrington and Lymm with Altrincham?

We have the population to make this a busy line and it would plug us into the Manchester transport system.

If Warrington does get trams, we connect with the Manchester trams.

That would make it into a busy line for commuters and shoppers.
