WE want to make a plea not to set off fireworks during the weekly NHS clapping celebrations, so as to protect nesting birds.
It’s truly wonderful to be a part of this weekly symbol of thanks to all the key workers across the country, and we all want to show our appreciation loud and clear.
But right now it’s an important and sensitive time for our wild birds, who are nesting all over the town.
Let’s protect our NHS and nature at the same time by sticking to clapping, banging saucepans or shouting as loud as you like, but giving the fireworks a miss.
