I HAVE real concerns about how coronavirus will affect the sport of rugby league.

While sport is not the first priority in these unsettling times, it is a part of our community life.

It is not the most important thing but it does matter and issues need to be considered.

While Warrington Wolves’ financial backing may mean it is able to survive a long postponement, other clubs surely cannot?

Without money from ticket sales, bars and food, how can the game keep going?

Clubs live hand to mouth and simply will not have the reserves to get through this.

The Government and the RFL needs to step in to help.

Without it, we could find a handful of clubs still going by the summer.

The authorities really need to act now to secure the future of the game we love and give us something to look forward to when this virus is over.
