ON June 23, 2016, 54.3 per cent of voters in Warrington South stated that they wished to leave the EU, as opposed to 45.7 per cent who voted to remain.

In 2017 Faisal Rashid became MP for Warrington South and seemingly took it upon himself to totally disregard the wishes of his constituents and promote the remain agenda.

On December 12, 2019, at the general election, Faisal Rashid lost his seat to the Conservative leave candidate Andy Carter.

Politicians are elected to serve the wishes of their constituents, and not to use their positions to further their own political ends.

The word ‘comeuppance’ springs to mind.
