REFERENCING the article in the Warrington Guardian (December 5) regarding Labour’s prospective parliamentary candidate for Warrington South Faisal Rashid condemning public harassment and intimidation allegedly by Tory supporting activists.

Faisal Rashid says the tactics were used during the visit of the shadow foreign secretary, Emily Thornberry’s visit to Warrington in November.

He complains that the activists embarked on an unpleasant campaign of public harassment and intimidation and not showing respect for democracy.

May I take this opportunity to remind Faisal Rashid that when Emily Thornberry was shadow attorney general back in 2014, she sent a tweet during the Rochester and Strood by-election with an image saying ‘Rochester’, which showed a terraced house with three England flags and a white van parked outside.

The resident of the house, Dan Ware, a car dealer, had put the flags up for the World Cup.

In my view I think that she was not only disrespectful but also showed contempt for the patriotic working classes, of whom the Labour party are supposedly meant to represent.
