I WOULD like to share with your readers my pride in being involved in one of Warrington’s great ambassadors – Warrington Male Voice Choir.

On Saturday they travelled to Wales, the land of song, to take part in a choral competition – and won it!

Llandudno’s Venue Cymru was the venue for this year’s prestigious North Wales Choral Festival and saw Warrington Male Voice Choir competing for the coveted male voice category and coming out on top.

Having been involved with the choir for more than 20 years, currently as chairman, going on stage on Saturday to accept the glass trophy was one of my proudest moments.

Over the past year, led by musical director Russell Paterson, the choir have worked really hard for the competition, while also rehearsing their wider concert programme.

Warrington can be and should be proud of a choir that, through good times and bad, has flown the flag for the town for more than 120 years and, in return, on behalf of the choir, I thank the people of Warrington for their support.

With that in mind the choir are planning to ‘show off ’ their North Wales Choral Festival winner’s trophy to their festive audiences, particularly at their annual Christmas Voices Christmas Brass concert, taking place on Saturday, December 21 at Parr Hall – with nearly 600 tickets already sold.

As the end of 2019 gets ever closer, the choir are looking forward to entertaining audiences at home and further afield and, at the same time, promoting Warrington – for many years to come.
