WHY can’t businesses and Warrington Borough Council just wait until after Remembrance Sunday before switching on the Christmas lights?

Isn’t it enough the shops start advertising Christmas in October or even earlier?

No I am not a killjoy or go around saying bah humbug.

I really enjoy the Christmas festivities too.

But I do remember those who lost their lives so we could see these Christmas lights, with all the enjoyment it brings.

Remembrance Sunday is a time for reflection and thanks.

Why not switch on the lights on the Friday after, not before Remembrance Sunday?

Oh but let us not forget the switch on brings crowds, and with crowds comes money into the town centre businesses.

Show some respect for those who never saw any more Christmases.
