I REFER to the recent article in the Warrington Guardian titled ‘Thousands of residents in country carrying guns’.

Contrary to the article, the UK has some of the strictest firearms laws in the world.

Whilst restrictive, our legislation still allows for much safe and enjoyable shooting.

Shooting sports vary from Olympic disciplines to essential wildlife management.

Along the way, it employs tens of thousands of people and plays a significant role in conservation efforts and the rural economy.

Shooting does not deserve such defamation.
